OFXCSV / Practical guide

Convert QFX to Excel with account and currency columns

Create a flat transaction table from QFX while preserving account identifiers, original timestamps and balances.

Start with an original export

Download the QFX from your bank or finance application and keep an unchanged copy. OFXCSV accepts bank and credit-card statements in OFX SGML or XML. Investment holdings and securities transactions are unsupported; the tool stops when it detects an investment statement rather than quietly omitting it.

Review the free rows

The trial includes the first ten transactions from one file and exports real XLSX/CSV. A larger file’s preview is explicitly partial. Paid conversion costs one file credit for up to 3,000 transactions across at most 100 accounts. Upload the original again in paid mode to process all its rows.

Use the workbook sheets

Transactions is one Excel table, suitable for Insert PivotTable after download. Account ID, statement number, currency, transaction type, FITID, name, memo and balances are retained. Accounts stores per-statement balances once. Repeated balance values on transaction rows are context, so do not sum them.

Build a safe pivot

Put account ID and currency in Rows, transaction type in Columns and signed amount in Values. Keep each currency separate and filter correction records before computing totals. Text identifiers retain leading zeros. Dates use calendar-date text for clarity, while the original OFX timestamp is in a separate column.
