OFXCSV / Practical guide
Convert multi-account OFX to a single CSV
Keep each bank or credit-card account identifiable when flattening an OFX statement.
Check what the file contains
A single OFX file may contain several bank statements and credit-card statements. OFXCSV assigns a statement number and preserves the account ID, bank ID, account type and currency. Repeated statements for the same account remain separate; records are not automatically deduplicated or combined.
Read all the columns
The CSV uses one header and one row per transaction. Name and Memo stay separate, FITID and check number remain text, and bank/account identifiers retain their leading zeros through formula-safe export. Import CSV using the spreadsheet’s Text type for IDs; opening a CSV directly may apply the spreadsheet’s own coercion.
Find zero-activity accounts
An account without transactions still appears in the XLSX Accounts sheet. A transaction-only CSV has no row on which to carry that account’s balance. Use XLSX when completeness of the account list matters. The trial limits account metadata to statements represented in its rows, or the first empty account when there are no rows.
Reconcile by account
Compare source and output row counts for each statement, then the signed activity total. Keep currencies separate. A closing balance is not the sum of the selected transaction period without an opening balance. This converter preserves source data and does not reconstruct missing balances or certify a reconciliation.
