OFXCSV / Practical guide

Convert QBO to CSV without opening QuickBooks

Read bank Web Connect data locally on the server and export a spreadsheet for review.

Recognize the format

A .qbo Web Connect file is an OFX-family statement, not a QuickBooks company backup. It normally contains bank or card transactions and account metadata. OFXCSV does not read .qbw, .qbb or an exported accounting database. No QuickBooks account credentials are requested.

Upload and inspect

Create an account, choose the free one-file trial and upload the QBO. Compare Date, Type, Amount, Name and Memo with the bank statement. If the source file contains an error status, missing transaction amounts or malformed dates, conversion fails without charging credits.

Export in the useful format

Download CSV for another import or XLSX for analysis. CSV contains transaction rows only; XLSX also includes Accounts and Validation sheets. Formula-like names and memos are escaped so a bank description cannot execute as a spreadsheet formula. Numeric amount cells remain numbers in XLSX.

Keep source and output together

No accounting categories or tax codes are inferred. Balance snapshots and correction flags stay visible for your own checks. Files and results expire within 24 hours; download a local copy before leaving. Deleting a conversion or your account removes its content sooner.
